| Bridging the EGNOS technology to the European market |
|
The SCUTUM project enters into operation. eni (the leading Italian oil and gas company, operating at international level) uses EGNOS Open Service and Commercial Service (based on EDAS) to track & trace 100 tankers of its fleet transporting hydrocarbon, and to further extend to 225 tankers by end of March 2011. Meanwhile the project is implementing a program of actions aimed at sharing its concepts and results with European stakeholders. On 23 November 2010, in Brussels, SCUTUM organised a "Workshop on EDAS for road applications” offering the occasion to European companies involved in the development of EDAS-based technologies, for sharing their vision on applications and services, and discuss with the EC and the GSA. Workshop conclusions are available at here. On 7 June 2011, in Lyon in coincidence with the ITS European Congress, SCUTUM launches a Think Tank on the use of advanced technologies for dangerous goods transport. This one day event allows a large panel of stakeholders, including representatives from institutions, users and solution/ service providers to present and discuss their ideas and experiences. Agenda and further information will be circulated soon.
