CEN Workshop SCUTUM Kicked off

PR4On 28 September 2010, the CEN Workshop SCUTUM was kicked off in Brussels at the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre, at the presence of the GSA, the SCUTUM team members proposing the  CEN Workshop and various interested stakeholders.

During the kick-off meeting, the participants had the opportunity to discuss and approve the Business Plan, detailing the scope and the implementation of the CEN Workshop SCUTUM, and to elect the relevant management structure.

The purpose of the CEN Workshop SCUTUM is to propose a standard for the implementation of EGNOS/EDAS based services for tracking & tracing applications related to the transport of goods.  The outcome is the CEN Workshop Agreement SCUTUM, consisting of a technical specification for the data to be exchanged between the mobile unit and the Service Centre (i.e. the platform delivering the services) to implement EGNOS/EDAS based positions.

The CEN Workshop SCUTUM lasts 12 months. It ends in November 2011 with the closure of the SCUTUM project.

The CEN Workshop SCUTUM is open to anyone willing to join and to accept the Business Plan. Major information and instructions to register are available at the following link http://www.scutumgnss.eu/cen-workshop.html.
